Welcome to SJ Ophthalmology Research Africa (SJ-Ophthalmology), an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research across the full spectrum of ophthalmology, including eye anatomy, physiology, vision science, and the prevention, diagnosis, and management of eye diseases.
SJ-Ophthalmology is indexed in Embase, enhancing the global visibility, credibility, and impact of published research. The journal serves as a platform for high-quality scientific work that connects African ophthalmic research with the international eye-health community.
It is Published by SJC Publishers Company Limited.
The Journal has both Print (ISSN:3006-5097) and Online (ISSN:3006-5100) medium.
Our publication months are January, April, July, and October of each year.
Aim and scope:
SJ Ophthalmology Africa aims to be the leading platform for disseminating high-quality research, clinical insights, and advancements in the field of ophthalmology across the African continent and the world over. Our primary goal is to bridge the gap in knowledge dissemination, foster collaboration among ophthalmologists, researchers, and healthcare professionals, and ultimately improve eye care outcomes for individuals. By providing a dedicated space for the exchange of ideas, innovations, and evidence-based practices, we strive to elevate the standard of eye care and contribute to the advancement of ophthalmology within the African context.
SJ Ophthalmology Africa invites original research articles, reviews, case studies, and perspectives covering a wide range of topics within ophthalmology, with a specific focus on issues relevant to the African population. The journal encompasses but is not limited to the following areas:
- Epidemiology and Public Health: Studies investigating the prevalence, incidence, and risk factors of various eye conditions and diseases within African communities, as well as public health interventions aimed at improving eye health outcomes.
- Clinical Research and Innovation: Research exploring novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, surgical techniques, medical devices, and pharmacological interventions relevant to the management of ophthalmic conditions prevalent in Africa.
- Pediatric Ophthalmology: Articles focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of pediatric eye diseases, visual impairments, and developmental disorders affecting children in Africa.
- Community Eye Health: Initiatives, programs, and strategies aimed at promoting eye health awareness, education, and access to affordable and equitable eye care services across diverse communities in Africa, including rural and underserved areas.
- Ophthalmic Technology and Telemedicine: Advances in technology-driven solutions, teleophthalmology, telemedicine applications, and digital health tools designed to enhance screening, diagnosis, monitoring, and management of eye diseases in resource-limited settings.
